Dating apps were supposed to make meeting people easier. Instead, somehow we ended up with six unanswered texts, unsolicited photos, forced sexual tension, and people acting like a match came with unlimited access to your time, attention, and body.

This week, Lizzie and Nash dig into why dating apps make otherwise reasonable people lose their damn minds. They talk about the pressure guys feel to stand out, response-time anxiety, the difference between attraction and actual chemistry, and why moving fast isn’t the problem—moving faster than the other person is. Lizzie shares a dating experience with a woman that went from exciting to exhausting in less than two days, and they get into bisexuality, dating women as a woman, kink, sexual compatibility, consent, unsolicited pics, and the strange way constant messaging can manufacture intimacy before you’ve even met.

And because this is Why Is It So Hard?, they also bring it back to ENM: respecting existing relationships, handling boundaries without turning them into a crisis, and remembering that being sex-positive, kinky, bisexual, or non-monogamous does not make someone universally available. A match means curiosity. It does not mean access.

Maybe just say hello first.
